It was for my niece.....right!
I don’t like spending money, especially in these economic times. It takes me two days to recover from filling up our gas tank. Actually, I never really fill it up any more, my stomach turns and I get dizzy after the display reaches $30 or $40 and I am unable to continue.
I am somewhat of a techno-junkie but am also ashamed to admit that I have never owned a video camera in my life. I am not sure why, but I guess it was just one more thing to get into that I might end up wasting time and money on.
Before Wes was born, we debated getting one but the cost was something that I did not want to confront. I hate spending money but I also hate getting something that just works or that we can get by on. So sometimes it is better to put off buying for fear that I will spend way too much.
Well, something else entered into the picture. My niece was married over the weekend and a few months ago she asked if I would video her wedding (she assumed that I had a camcorder). After discovering that I didn’t have the equipment, she found one to borrow.
As the wedding approached, I thought of how disappointed my niece would be if the older, borrowed camera didn’t work properly or if I accidentally broke it.
So I did the proper thing and went out to buy a camera- you know, to help out my niece.
I used restraint and bought a middle of the road camcorder that was on clearance and I was proud of myself.
To make sure things worked properly and to test out the new equipment I needed to find something to video.
After searching for hours and not finding the proper subject, I had to resort to recording our son during his playtime- what a pity.
Well, the wedding went off without a hitch and I witnessed the first of my two nieces reach the next step in life.
I recorded the video and am now in the process of putting it all together so she can have it after the honeymoon.
However, while looking through the video clips I noticed that the camera itself kept focusing in sticking on one individual in particular and I never could figure out why.
Well, maybe it was because it was my boy Wes! - I’m not proud or anything.
