Got a sweet tooth - here’s your fix!
First, Mom and Dr. Jordan please stop reading right this moment, there are much more interesting things for you to see on the following pages. OK, now I can tell the rest of you about an amazing discovery I made last week.
Well, let me back up, it wasn’t really a ‘new’ discovery but it sure was sweet - in more ways than one. We slipped away for lunch at Maria’s which some of you may know as Sunrise Bakery. I immediately went to place my order, but my wife and Pauletta zeroed in on the newest addition in the bakery case - gourmet cupcakes.
So as a mutual decision, so no one would feel like a pig, we all decided that lunch should be capped off with a special treat - and let me say mine was amazing. I had a strawberry cream cheese cupcake that practically melted in your mouth. I let my wife sneak one quick bite and then I devoured the entire delicacy. Now, I’m sure that my sugar went off the charts, and I’ll probably regret this decision when my next A1C test rolls around, but every now and then you just have to dive off the wagon head first and treat yourself.
Before, the D diagnosis, I had experienced another gourmet cupcake at a place not in my hometown and I thought, wow, I can’t believe I just paid that much for a cupcake. Well, Maria’s prices are a little more reasonable - but again I say sometimes you just have to treat yourself. My wife enjoyed a banana nut cupcake that she managed to make last for two days, while Pauletta took her red velvet cupcake home because she was just too full to eat it there. But she did confess to consuming the entire delight for breakfast the next morning.
Now I could say I’m not endorsing Maria - but, well, I guess I am. That’s not to say there aren’t other fabulous eateries in White House, Magnifiscent has awesome chicken salad - or so I’m told since I don’t touch the stuff, and you can’t beat a Papa John’s pizza every now and then, and the BBQ Place serves a whopping value of a baked potato, and Sky Mesa’s nachos will feed a crowd, the Rhonda burger at Bob & Rhonda’s will really fill you up - well I guess there’s just really a lot of good food in our little town. So eat cupcakes or if you don’t feel like indulging and the extra night at Just Be Fit for your indiscretion try something else - I’m always up for a food discussion!
Oh, I almost forgot to mention Cissy’s sweet treats - I’ll leave that for another day, which reminds me, I need to get to the Chamber lunch for a chance to win one of her cakes......
