With a custom-designed feel, solid wood cabinetry, spacious rooms and numerous amenities, Brookside Village is hardly the image of yesterday's retirement community. “This 'boomer' generation is retiring differently,” stated Marketing Director Bob Richter. “They're more mobile. They travel more. This type of housing allows them to lock the door and be gone a month.”
Each of the six floor plans currently available for construction in the development is customizable and displays careful forethought that makes each home “as comfortable and as functional as possible,” Richter noted. In addition to all of the interior finish choices to be made, the developer, Larry Patana, has brought his experience as a custom home builder to the home buyers at Brookside with several different brick, trim and porch/patio options.
With zero exterior maintenance, homeowners in the community can truly have the best of both worlds. Unlike condominiums, the patio homes all have ample, private outdoor space and ownership of the ground as well as the home. From lawn care to roof maintenance, Brookside Village enables everyone age fifty and above to enjoy a home without the work or worry of a regular subdivision residence.
Scattered throughout the community will be amenities designed to create a village reminiscent of a Thomas Kincaid painting. Pavilions, water features, green space, a mile of walking trails, beautiful plants and iron fences will abound at the project's culmination. Additionally, a club house, exercise facility, business center, wi-fi access and sidewalks connecting to shops and restaurants are in store for residents at Brookside.
Prices in this gated community begin in the 150's with floorplans ranging from 1300-1600 square feet for one story homes. Each plan includes a large attic space and the option of adding an upstairs. Only a dozen or so are being constructed each year, a decision that allows the builder to spend time making each home as though it were for himself. “This is a project that he has really looked forward to,” Richter commented of Patana. It has also been an opportunity to utilize the latest in green technologies like tankless water heaters and specially engineered center walls that prevent transmission of sound and even improve fire safety.
The fifteen acre development will hold seventy homes built over five phases during the next three to five years.
