“A personal trainer is just that: a personal trainer,” explained fitness expert Carrie Johnson. “I don’t do my workout or the person next to us in the gym’s workout. I do your workout, and I hold you accountable.”
The decision to work out with the guidance of a personal trainer can be a jump start to meeting personal fitness goals whether weight loss, improved cardiovascular health or any other desired result. Personal trainer Carrie Johnson meets people with a wide range of goals, needs and experience levels every day at Hammer Fist Gym in White House.
Johnson entered the field three years ago after experiencing first hand the struggles many adults have with balancing work, family and fitness. “I wanted to provide a service for people in the same situation,” Johnson recalled. Today, she offers personal consultations, customized programs, success coaching and guided workouts five days a week both morning and evening by appointment to many White House residents.
Johnson has a degree in health and is certified by the American Fitness Professionals Association. Her approach to fitness is well-rounded and begins with a healthy heart and a healthy body image. “Once you have those in place,” she noted, “then everything else seems to fall into place.”
A session with Johnson will yield data such as body fat percentage, weight, dietary needs and health concerns along with clarified goals and a customized program for reaching those objectives. It also delivers accountability, a key component in adhering to a routine and maintaining results once they have been achieved. With the majority of her clientele seeking to lose weight, she has found that accountability can make an enormous difference by helping them “make themselves a priority.”
For those who have difficulty making it to the gym, Johnson often designs programs that can be carried out in the home. In warmer months, she also meets clients at the greenway and adds resistance band work at each of the stopping points. “It’s a great break from working in the gym,” she added.
One hour sessions can be scheduled once or twice a week or only as needed and cost as little as $25.00 each with packages based on each client’s customized program. Sessions generally make use of the equipment available at Hammer Fist Gym, although membership is not always required. Johnson also incorporates stretching, free weights and aerobic kickboxing along the way.
