“We're dedicated to creating outdoor living space,” declared Budd Stedman, co-owner of The Great Outdoors in White House. With construction expertise in patio rooms, screen rooms, privacy fences, patio covers, custom decks, gazebos, garages, windows, doors, roofing and siding, the business located at 2792 Highway 31 W is the place to find everything to expand and improve a home's exterior space. “If it's outside, we do it,” Stedman added.
The Great Outdoors opened in February of 2000 with a line of sturdy, hand-crafted outdoor furniture. Over time, new services and product lines have been added to meet the needs of the growing community. “Through the years we've expanded,” explained co-owner Rita Harden. “Next week we'll probably have something new.”
One thing that has not changed, however, is the quality of each job completed by The Great Outdoors' craftsmen and contractors. Most of the work is done by the business's crew of six roofers, three craftsmen, a supervisor and two owners, all of whom have over a decade of experience, with some topping thirty years. Stedman also utilizes subcontractors when necessary and is careful to closely supervise those he hires. “There are some excellent subcontractors that work with us,” he noted.
In addition to quality craftsmanship and a wealth of construction and carpentry experience, The Great Outdoors carries top of the line materials and stands behind both the products and the work they provide. “We try to give people a comfort level that they're dealing with a company that is going to be here for the long haul,” Stedman expressed. “We want to exceed expectations,” Harden added. With nearly half of their business originating from referrals, it is a goal they are clearly reaching.
