WHPD Lawsuit a Disgrace
To the Editor:
It is of great interest to me that a class action lawsuit is being brought against the White House Police Department for harassment of our youth.
We are fortunate to have many law abiding young citizens, but some have no respect for the laws we all have to obey. When parents don’t have the fortitude to give their children the proper guidance, someone has to take the initiative to correct the situation. Parents need to be teaching their children to obey the laws, rather than assisting them in disobedience.
When anyone speeds, drinks and drives, run stop signs, or other violations such as vandalizing the greenway, they are a danger to everyone. To get stopped or corrected for a violation of the law is certainly not harassment irrespective of your age.
I would suggest to anyone who doesn’t have the utmost respect, admiration and appreciation for our policemen to enroll in the Citizens Police Academy to learn and see firsthand how they risk their life every day for this community.

Little Is Much
Dear Editor,
On Friday 15 August, 2008, we stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Our son, Aaron, was wearing his Class A or dress uniform. He has been in the army about 8 years. He has served two 15 month tours in Iraq. He was awarded two Bronze Stars, one with Valor. He’s now serving as a Drill Instructor at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, where he did Basic Training.
As we entered Cracker Barrel, a few people greeted us and said, “Thank you,” to Aaron. While we were eating, a couple came by and thanked Aaron again and left. In a short time, the server told us the couple had paid for our meal. What the couple didn’t know is the reason Aaron was in Class A uniform. We were going to his grandmother’s funeral.
At such a time, what seems small to someone, is a great outpouring of love. We want to say thank you to the couple who showed us love and support on that morning. We needed it.
Sincerely,
Connie Bibb
