Slushy Discrimination
Dear Editor:
I am the mother of a 5 year old little girl who is a kindergartner at H.B. Williams Elementary. She is a VERY picky eater with some allergy issues. I have to pack her lunch everyday. I am careful to give her a well balanced lunch. I deposit money into a snack account for her at school so she can get snacks or eat lunch at school if she desires. She came home from school this week very excited because the school has a new “slushy” machine and asked if she could get one. I said “of course” and explained that she had money in her account. My child came home from school and said she was not allowed to get a Slushy since she did not buy lunch from school, she can have ice cream, etc… but no Slushy which is 100 per cent juice and I am told very healthy.

Thank you from Kiwanis
Dear Editor:
The Kiwanis Club of White House appreciates everyone’s support of our annual sale of Jams/Cheese Christmas Basket. The proceeds from this sale go to support our Children Priority One projects throughout the year. Many businesses buy these baskets as a thank you for their customers and to their employees. Special thank you to one business, Mid South Installation, owners Richard and Jackie Howell, who purchased several baskets and then asked us to distribute them to those in need. We appreciate everyon’e support for this worthy endeavor.

Thank you from Hope Ministries
As we begin the new year, we want to express our gratitude to everyone who supported us in so many ways, through your financial gifts, collecting food for the food bank, clothing, household items, and furniture for the Thrift Store.

Because you care, families who had fallen on hard times and unable to meet basic needs of food, clothing, rent and utilities, had those needs met.

We look forward to serving our community in an even greater way this year, and we ask for your continued support. With all of us working together we can make a difference.
We invite you to visit the Thrift Store, our prices are affordable for most budgets. Hope to see you soon.

Thank You Sincerely,
From All of Us at Hope Ministries
