Political Sign Cleanup
Dear Editor:
Well it’s finally over. The elections that is - good luck to the winners.
I simply urge area residents to pick up the political signs for three reasons:
1. It helps beautify our roadsides.
2. The wire frames are good for supporting flowers - like peonies, iris and certain veggies.
3. The wire can be deadly for county mowers next spring. Both for the operators and passers by.
Again, best of luck to our leaders, especially on the national level. They need our prayers and support. God bless America.

Lady Legends Say Thanks
Browser Connection Staff,
I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for publishing the picture of our White House U10 Lady Legends soccer team this past week. While it may seem like a small thing to you, and some of your readers, it was huge for our team. We are a new team and, while they gave it everything they had, they struggled throughout the season. My eight-year-old daughter, Maddie, was hit especially hard from each loss. While we watched other clubs from other cities take home medals in the White House Tournament, our girls were again disappointed.
The Bowling Green Tournament, however, seemed to mark a turning point for the team. The girls are excited about soccer again and really believe that anything is possible. Publishing their picture and names helped their confidence tremendously. They are a beautiful group of exceptional athletes that you will undoubtedly be reporting on five years down the road when they enter either Heritage or White House High Schools. Mark my words!

Concerned Citizen
Dear Editor:
I want to express my viewpoint on this election outcome. It is very hard to be enthusiastic about this election. It’s a sad day for Republicans, Conservatives, and Americans in general. Truly the John McCain - Sarah Palin ticket was the right choice to reform our government, clean up Wall Street, and put our economy and our country on the right track. I love my country and I believe in the democratic process, but this time I feel it has failed us big time. I say count all the votes. Look at all the red states that were won by the GOP. The Electoral College process has failed us.

Thank You!
While we mourn the loss of our dear Stan McAfee we also celebrate his life and all that he has added to it.
Sometimes we don’t know what kind of an impact a person makes while on this Earth until they leave. That is what happened when Stan passed away.
The incredible showing of friends and family are a true testament of his love of people and this community. Stan would be humbled by the outpouring of love everyone has for him and would have loved to be there and talk to each and everyone of you.
Stan loved this community and it somehow won’t be the same without him. But we have his memories to comfort us.
We want to thank all those who have given us support and have kept us in your prayers. Please continue to do so as we continue without him.
Sincerely,
The McAfee Family
The Second Black President
Barack Obama is now being crowned as the “First African-American President”. His mother is ‘white’ while his father is ‘black’, so maybe he does deserve the title of “African-American”, as his father actually is from Africa while his mother is from America. Mr. Obama, himself, however, has not played that card during his run, and he deserves to be commended for not reducing this race to, well, race. If he thinks of himself as anything besides “American” then the voters made a big mistake. Technically, I am a “Slovak-German-Irish-American”, but that sounds foolish, doesn’t it? So if I ever win the Presidency...nah, nevermind.
Lets focus on what’s important, and not on pigment. The fact that Obama is black should be a footnote in history, not history itself. At some point in our future, we will have a Woman President (Victoria Woodhall, in 1872 could not even vote for herself when she ran! We’ve come a long way, baby). We will have a Black Woman as President. We will have a person of Hispanic descent as President. We will have a Native American Woman who is an amputee (from combat duty service) raising a child by herself as a President, someday. If that bothers you, get over it. ‘The times they are a-changin’, no doubt, but the central core of the issue is this: Who will be the best person for the job?
When we cast our vote based on caste, or reduce the winner of the race to race, we lose perspective. Those who voted against Obama because he is (whisper) black are just as ignorant as those who voted for him because he is black. If all you can see is ethnicity/race/religion, you probably have some issues to deal with, and I suggest getting help. Seriously.
Our country’s strength comes from the collective ‘we’, not any single individual. Stretch your hand out to help someone, not to take a hand-out. Its easy (and cowardly) to sit and complain. Get up. Do something good. Change the world. If you do the right thing (vote) for the wrong reason (to be a part of this historical event, blah blah blah), the good and bad probably cancel each other, and you end up neutral. The trick is to do the right thing for the right reason.
