As you all know Xena could have been easily saved if the staff would have responded appropriately.

All of the following information is documented: She began to choke at the table while eating with Mr. Sain her counselor and he admits sending her to the bathroom alone. She lost consciousness in the bathroom and was found by Alicia W. a short time later on the floor, blue. Instead of calling 911 when they found her, they called for the nurses of TSB's clinic, which after they arrived, failed to assess the situation properly. They wrongly & negligently failed to check her airway and assumed it was a diabetic emergency although Xena’s blood sugar just minutes earlier was at 89 (perfect).

They administered a very painful intramuscular shot of Glucagon which of course on a choking victim avails nothing! This lost time was critical. They then did the unthinkable - they transported her via wheelchair to the clinic to test her blood sugar now at 117.

Then they called 911. The 911 operator tries in vain to help but the nurse rushes her off the phone. Five minutes later the ambulance & fire department arrive, Xena is clinically dead on arrival propped up in a wheelchair with no chest rise, no pulse, no heartbeat, eyes fully dilated and unresponsive. Within one minute this wonderful lifesaving crew document, not a diabetic call, we have a food obstruction. The school now states they cannot find the meter they tested her blood sugar with. We feel its because it incriminates them because they knew calling 911 that her blood sugar was not low, she had choked and they handled the situation wrongfully. Mark & I feel that these nurses should be reprimanded and retrained.

Xena could have been saved if firstly: she was not sent to the bathroom while choking!!!!! Secondly: Given the Heimlich Maneuver when found. Sadly protocol was not followed and Xena suffered extreme brain damage resulting in her inability to maintain life on her own. Xena had a partial food obstruction of chicken in her throat which could have been dislodged had only someone tried.

Please, please help us!!!!! If people will write a short note or email to the following people we know this won’t be swept under the rug! It can’t be swept under the rug. And it is not possible to sue a state agency - sovereign immunity protects them!

Please, please, please express your concerns and help us save the lives of innocent children who will suffer if they are in incompetent hands! It will only take a few minutes of your time to write or call.

We love you and thank God for you. This is my crusade, and I  will not allow Xena to have died in vain.

I am hoping to have something called Xena’s law where every lunchroom monitor should be CPR certified and hopefully teachers too!

Anyone who works around children should be CPR certified don’t you think??? These folks probably were but failed to use the lifesaving protocol in Xena’s emergency because of their foolish assumption of a diabetic problem.
