Exciting season ahead for east
By Karl Hawes
Sports Editor
There’s young and then there is East Robertson young.

Undefeated Friendship Christian invaded Cross Plains Friday night and walked away with a 47-6 win. The No. 4 (AP) Commanders have defeated their opponents by an average of almost 24 points each.

The lone score for the night for the Indians was a 65 yard Logan Moody TD pass to David Woodard.

Lee Maasen ran the offense for FCS rushing for 145 yard and 3 TDs. He also passed for 182 yards, and slung 4 of his 11 tosses for TDs.

East (1-4) travels to Goodpasture (3-3) Friday for their third region battle.

The Indians will go into the 2008 football season returning only three starters from last year’s squad that finished with a 3-7 record.

“There’s no doubt we are young, but we have a group of kids here that work hard,” head coach Jeff Chapman said. “We have a lot of chemistry on this team right now.”
