By Drew ChristensonThe Heritage High men’s basketball team remain perfect on the season at 3-0 securing their first district win against Clarksville Academy last Thursday and their second regional win against Community last Tuesday. Ross Albright is leading the Patriots and is averaging almost 30 points per game. During thier first game against Boyd Christian Albright was responsible for 33 of the 69-42 win against the Broncos. Heritage’s first home game last Tuesday came down to the wire against regional foe Community High School where the lead changed 11 times in the second half. The Vikings led the game 50-49 with only 23 seconds left in the game when James Townes secured the lead with a basket. Townes also came through with only 2 seconds on the clock. Community threw the ball in to make a last second shot when Townes intercepted the pass and ended the game giving Heritage a 51-49 victory. The Patriots traveled to Clarksville Academy for the first district challenge Thursday night and took advantage of a 4th quarter run to secure a solid 55-46 win. Albright led the game with 25 points with Townes coming in at 15. Both players managed two 3-pointers on the night along with help from Joey McClung who also had 2 of his own. The Cougars meant business on the night and had a 24-23 lead at the half. The Patriots came out in the third and started to wear down Clarksville and reversed the lead to a 39-38 advantage. Heritage outscored the Cougars in the 4th 16-8 and secured the district win. The Patriots stay at home this week for 2 district games, taking on cross county rival East Robertson(3-1) tonight and Houston Co.(3-2) Friday night. |
