McEwen spoils Lady Pats upset win in last seconds
Win against Merrol Hyde 54-26 early in week

Friday night was an emotional game for the Lady Patriots as McEwen’s Andrea Hobson hit two free throws in the last few seconds of play solidifying a 40-39 victory.

The victory placed the Lady Warriors in first place in the district with East 2nd. Heritage is only a game ahead of Nashville Christian and JoByrns at 3rd place and have to play both teams to finish the regular season.

Hobson led the game for the Lady Warriors with 16 points while Brandi Redding led Heritage with 12.

The game was tied 20-20 going into the half and McEwen held the Lady Pats to just 2-points in the 3rd. However, Heritage came back to life in the 4th and took a 1-point lead with less than a minute left in the game. That is when Hobson hit both charity shots, ending an upset bid by the Lady Pats.

Tuesday night’s game against Merrol Hyde Magnet School was a disaster for the visiting Lady Hawks as poor ball handling and shooting assured an easy victory for the Lady Patriots.

Shelby Ray had a career game, scoring 22 points and several players came off the bench for some much needed playing time.

The Lady Pats travel to University School, Nashville tonight and to Nashville Christian Friday night. Heritage dominated Nashville Christian on January 4 and need the win to keep their place in the district.
