Heritage continues tumble
By Drew Christenson
The Heritage boys basketball team hasn’t been able to get back on track in 2008 and are edging closer to the bottom of the district standings. Last week the Patriots fell at University School of Nashville in OT 45-38 as well as Nashville Christian 73-38.

The loss Friday night was anything but anticipated as the Eagles have dominated most every team they have played all year. The only game they have lost this season is to Paxton High School in Florida during a Christmas tournament.

Ross Albright led the game for the Patriots with 17 points including two 3-point shots. Nashville Christian’s Bradley Elkins also had 17 with four 3-pointers. Ten other Eagles added to the points totals for the game as they dominated from the opening jump. Heritage trailed 35-11 at the half and things didn’t really improve from there. Only in the last few minutes of the game when the younger players got their shot did the Patriots manage some shots, scoring 20 in the 4th. However, NCS had already solidified a win with the final score 73-38.

Tuesday wasn’t much better for the Patriots as USN took the game away from Heritage in overtime. The Tigers and Patriots battled for the lead during regulation and the game came down to a 35-35 tie at the buzzer. However, USN controlled the OT outscoring Heritage 10-3 taking the game.

Albright led the game for the Patriots with 20 points including four 3-pointers on the night.

Heritage hosts Jo Byrns tonight for their last district match before traveling to Community for the last regular season game.
