White House freshmen improve to 4-0 on the year
By Karl Hawes
Offense has not been a big source of concern for White House freshmen head coach, Michael Hamilton, in the first three games of the season. On the other hand, the Blue Devils defense has been the source of a lot of concern for the first year head coach.
After last Thursday’s 34-6 victory over visiting Macon County, Hamilton should be able to rest a little easier.
“For the first time all season our defense showed up for us,” Hamilton said. “We played a very good offensive team tonight and our defense did a great job stopping them.”
White House was able to put 14 points on the scoreboard early as Logan Stem and Kevin Jackson were both able to find the end zone in the first quarter.
Tyler Davis joined them in the scoring column as he was able to score on a long running touchdown of his own in the second quarter as White House was able to put up 21 points in the first half.
“Our offense has been rolling so far this season,” Hamilton said. “Our backs are hitting the holes that our line is opening. I feel pretty good about our offensive play so far this season.”
That offense kept plugging away in the third quarter as Stem found the end zone for the second time in the game.
Stem then saved his best for last and scored his third touchdown of the evening in the fourth quarter on a 90-yard run that capped off the scoring for the Blue Devils for the evening.
However, it was the defense that Hamilton was more impressed with at the end of the night.
“We have put a lot of emphasis on tackling in practice the last couple weeks and it’s starting to show on the field,” Hamilton said. “Our goal is to get better every week and so far, I think we are doing that.”
White House will host Greenbrier this Thursday as they look to stay perfect on the season. Kick-off is at 6:00pm.
