“Academics were very important in our decision,” DeMarqus Payne said. “The academics there are some of the best that we could have asked for.”
The brothers plan on majoring in Marketing/Business Management while at ONU.
They also looked at schools like Cumberland and Campbellsville before ultimately deciding on playing for the Polar Bears.
The Payne’s will leave White House High School as decorated athletes as they were three sport athletes for the Blue Devils. In addition to their work on the grid iron, they also played basketball and baseball while at White House.
While the thought of leaving high school comes with mixed emotions for the Payne’s, they are ready for the next step In their football career.
“We are going to miss playing football here at White House,” Payne said. “But it feels good to know that we are going to be able to play at the next level and continue playing football.”
ONU is a Division III school and plays in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The brothers will leave White House with their legacy documented as they have helped rewrite the record books as both of them rank in the Top 10 in many categories.
